gcc compile not working
 

I'm running Suse Linux 8.0 and everything works fine, except . . . When I try using the compiler or even enter the command 'gcc -v', I get the message, 'command not found'. I've tracked the compiler down to /usr/lib/gcc-lib/ and it is there and seems to be installed correctly. Should I try to find another version on line and go the tar, configure, make and install route (which I've never done before)? --Norman Oklahoma

Have you tried "g++"? It should work the same.
