gcc

Hi, I am just wondering: I installed (upgraded technically) to gcc version 3.2 from gcc 2.95.3. When I check my gcc version with the "gcc -v" command it says version 3.2...So that's okay. However, my bootup message (dmesg) says "Linux version 2.4.19 (root@linuxbox) (gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (release))" Why would that say it is version 2.95.3 when I upgraded to version 3.2? Thanks. You've all been great so far.

It says what version of gcc your kernel was compiled against, that's all.
