Unhappy Galeon & Java VM...:(

I have galeon as my main browser since it's the best outa the ones I've seen so far. I like the IE style type browser and this one has some nice features. The thing is, when I installed JAVA for mozilla, it worked for Konqueror, but Galeon doesn't seem to work. I can get Yahoo Games to work on Konqueror but they don't work on Galeon. I tried adding a Mime Type, but i failed or there's a known bug that I don't know about. Could someone help me out!

Where is mozilla installed? Is there a java plugin file in the plugins dir? (eg, /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/

If your mozilla was compiled with gcc3 (the RedHat packages aren't) then the Sun plugin might not work. Some people have reported getting others (such as Blackdown) to work, though.

There should be a directory something like:

What you want to do is make a symlink of your java plugin to your galeon plugins directory. Something like:

ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.1_01/plugin/i386/ns610/ /usr/local/galeon/plugins

Ok. I'm assuming you've got mozilla installed, ELSE you couldn't be running galeon.

I'm also assuming that the JAVA PLUGIN ( is in:

ln -s /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01/jre/plugin/i386/ns600/ ~/.mozilla/plugins/

That will put a link to the plugin into your mozilla directory of your user. You must do this as the user you use. Alternately, you can link it to /usr/lib/mozilla-VERSION#/plugins/ so that any user can use this plugin.

Hello! You don't think you have a plugins folder? Check this:

whereis mozilla
And look for the lib directory, then follow up that path for the plugins directory. Symlink to there.
