I had never heard of Gajim or Jabber until recently. The more I look into it, the less it makes sense. It's advertised as a messenger program that handles chat rooms.
So I create an account--then it doesn't let me in because I need to choose a server, and each server has its own set of "values" and options, but there's no way to find out what those options are--you just have to know. Fine, I chose a server. Now I can't really do anything.
Join a room. That would be nice if they supplied a list of rooms. Just type in the name of the room. Yeah right--give me a list of rooms--nope, no list.
Let's look at the faq. Nope, no info on those things.
Let's click on the "community" link. "Gajim has got a wide and active userbase. Be a part of it." Yes, that's nice, how about a message board--no, you're supposed to get involved with the Gajim/Jabber community online, with Gajim. Hey, that's really cool
Talk about the community but don't talk about how you can become part of it.
So, there's no message board, there's no FAQ that tells how to search for rooms. There's no option to find out what each server means, and it seems to be one of those programs where I just have to know before I use it.
Can anyone tell me where the room lists are? Does this program handle voice rooms, or is this really a glorified IRC client or just another crippled messenger program for Linux?
