i had a redhat 9 and i haven't upgrade my gaim yet and that's what i don't want was to upgrade it. But configure it correctly.
Is anybody know how to configure my gaim in linux.
Actually i am a little confused. Because when i trying to setup my gaim. It didn't say anything about what type, such as 'msn messenger, yahoo messenger', user name am i using. But it had just simply asked me Login name and password?
How can i setup this for my msn messenger, yahoo messenger, and aol messenger?

Actually for a client that supports multiple instant messaging networks kopete is much better. I have also heard centericq is good but I haven't tried it yet.

at the sign-on screen click accounts then click add, you'll first have to load plugins if you wanna use msn/yahoo.

well when you open up gaim there should be a plugin button, once you click that a screen will pop up and you then will hit the load button..then once that is done a screen will pop up with the plugins, and the default directory it usually looks at is /usr/lib/gaim where it shows a list of plugins...
and the naming convention is pretty self-explanatory....for example:
the file libicq.so will load the ICQ plugin
the file libmsn.so will load the MSN plugin
so i think you can catch the jist of what i am saying...

the later gaim versions have that stuff built in, just go to account then add and next to the word protocol will be a dropdown list of all the supported protocols: on mine it reads TOC, AIM/ICQ, Yahoo, MSN, IRC, JABBER, NAPSTER, ZEPHYR and Gadu-gadu. I didn't have to install any plugins or anything.
