Ok, im trying to get a way to be able to see web cams over msn on linux. Gaim-vv (http://gaim-vv.sf.net) seems to do this. I have managed to compile the libosip,libj2k, linphone-im and finally the gaim-vv package itself. The problem is when I try to right click on a contact there is no menu option for invite web cam (as a screenshot shows : http://gaim-vv.sourceforge.net/images/videoconf.png).
Looking through the gaim-vv website i need to enable the linphone-im package in the prefrences. There is no linphone-im plugin shown in the list!! I followed all the instructions on the installation page ( http://gaim-vv.sourceforge.net/install.html) but the plugin does not appear
I have also got a contact to send web cam but nothing appears to accept at my end. Anyone got any ideas about this?
I am able to view webcams through net/gnome meeting which is a start, but i really do want to get gaim-vv to work as i dont have to use netmeeting (by the looks of the screenshot). So using ayttm sort of works but i would still like gaim-vv to work so dont have to go through the process of gnomemeeting just for webcam.
So if anyone knows how to compile gaim-vv with the plugin it would be good
I tried to install the linphone-im thingy, but it asked me for atk. Fine, I though and got atk, then atk asked me for glib, and when I installed glib, atk refused to find it. Then I installed some pkt-config, as it said something about that in the error. Nothing helped, I've tested lots of versions of both glib and atk, but im clueless. atk ./configure says I need to specify the path to GLIB in my pkt-config, havn't found the config file nor glib. ;/. Not that good at this, obviously. Any help or attempt at such is highly appreciated!
Im not too sure, but maybe you need to install pkt-config (maybe pkg-config) before atk and glib, but I really don't know anything about that.

gaim has this plugin which integerates directly gnome meeting through DBUS
i have'nt used this but i think u can have a look here
I downloaded this its a .c file. No idea what to do with it, tryed copying it into gaim-1.1.0/plugins or something and trying to compile with it there. Didnt do that much, so where do I have to put it?
From what you said about integrating gnomemeeting into gaim. does that mean the other user has to use netmeeting to be able to connect? Thats the whole idea that im trying to get away from, but if not any advice on how to install/compile it would be good,
Finally got it installed on Ubuntu; had to install it (make install), removed the gaim deb(standard installed) package anddo a remake. It looks to work but when i do an invite and continue is pops-up "Error writing to Switchboard server"
So no succesfull connection yet!
