Gaim - VoIP support
 

Hi,

I heard that Lindows, Inc. is going to add VoIP support to gaim.
Is this true ? Does someone have more information about this ?

On the Gaim-website is nothing about this.. :(

It also should be possible to call to real phone's.

Where did you get this information? Lindows/Linspire sponsor Gaim. But neither the Linspire nor the Gaim sites have anything at all about this. Is this one of those "FOAF Stories"*?

I'm using skype right now! Sound quality is really good, but I would prefer VoIP in Gaim.

Cool - I just had a read and it appears that (according to that article) you are correct. I could not, however, find any other articles anywhere on the net to verify this by.

Interestingly, I didn't see anywhere where the article claims to have got the information. Linspire uses SIP for VOIP - maybe they have a way to make Gaim and SIP work together?

Until other articles come along (specifically from Gaim and Linspire) I would treat this as one of the usual Internet wish lists.

I haven't tried it as yet, but I for one would be most interested to read how others find it.

It is v. 0.79, the current gaim version is 0.80, it almoast new ;)
I am compiling it right now, and will test it with my sip account, if it works it would be really nice to see sip support soon in gaim ;)
