GAIM + Screen name in terminal window

Hey all,
After updating some system files using YUM on my FC1 box, GAIM (v.0.82-0.FC1) starting acting a little wierd. With every instant message that was sent to me, my own screen name appeard in the terminal window that i opened GAIM in. With each new instant message, inbound to me, my screen name appeared again in the terminal window.
Pressing enter brought me back to my prompt and can work normally, but if another IM is sent to me, my screen name appears again, and again.

ANyone seen this before???

all help much appretiated, thanks!!
