gaim, irc and notifications

I just started using gaim for irc and I like the idea for integrating IM-messengers with irc - just means one less application for me.
However, I'm missing a very important feature: When someone types:

your_nick: have you blabla?

It should notify me, that somebody wanted to talk to me. Is this doable somehow?
Thanks

in my opinion gaim has nothing that would make me use it for irc...it's nice for IMs but irc is different. a lot different. I'd keep irc in it's own app..say irssi (or if you like nice GUI, then X-Chat).

I'm not sure if Gaim has notifications...check out their site @ gaim.sourceforge.net and see FAQ, docs etc...

I did check their site - otherwise, I wouldn't have posted this, now would I?

I know what you mean with having separate apps, but there isn't anything wrong with trying it out, is it?

So, is there some kind of plugin that handles this? Thanks

after a quick check - there is

Prefences -> Plugins -> Message notification

is that what you're looking for? :)

and about my previous post..no, there's nothing bad in trying things out. just made my own point...I tried out too, didn't like it. hopefully you do..and I guessed you checked their site, but some people come here without even thinking of using google/developer's site, so I was just checking out...but try that plugin, ok?

hopefully it's what you want.

Yes, I did see that plugin, unfortunatelly, it doesn't seem to support that feature. I really guess I'm on my own and have to code my own plugin for this.

And I do know what it feels like when people ask before checking the site - so no offense here ;)
