Gaim freezes when sending messages

I can log onto an aim account with gaim with no problems. but if I try to send or recieve a message game freezes, and wont respond to anything. If I send a message the message does get sent, but everything freezes so it isn't very helpful.

I tried different versions of Gaim, as this one I just updated to, but other versions were having the same problem. I also have removed some of the services since the last time I've rebooted, so that may also be a problem, though it hasn't been one in the past.

Finally I tried removing my .gaim directory, but that didn't help either.

I'm out of ideas, any help would be greatly appreciated.
cheers,
Michael

It's a known problem lately. Try turning off all of your sound options (in Gaim, not your system) and re-starting Gaim.

That seems to have worked. Thank you.
