gaim font issues

So I just updated gaim to (.61) and the new interface is nice, but when i vnc to my linux box the fonts look really bad (the "e"s dont have their horizontal lines). I can change the fonts, but it doesn't fix the interface fonts. Any ideas?

I had this issue with YIM over VNC. The only font that worked for me was symbol. That's not much of a solution, though, since the recipient of the message can't read it.

Post if you get this resolved.
