gaim-encryption GTK headers

I'm trying to compile the new version of gaim-encryption and it says I don't need to have the source and that I just need to compile it like I would a normal program. I tried to run ./configure but It says that pkg config found a different version of gtk than it thinks that I have. I've tried removing the if line from ./configure but it says that it can't compile the GTK executable. I've tried recompiling GTK and installing it as a package but either way I get the same error.

Solved the problem, it turns out my /etc/ld.so.conf was pointing to the wrong dir for the new gtk, and I had removed the old package so it had nothing to point to.
