gaim compile
I use Mandrake 9.1 and I want to compile Gaim from source. I did the ./configure and it checked out and then when I did make install I get this error
gcc: /usr/lib/libgaim-remote.so: No such file or directory
make[3]: *** [gaim-remote] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/jason/gaim-0.66/src'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/jason/gaim-0.66/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/jason/gaim-0.66'
make: *** [all] Error 2
I don't know what to do about this anyone have any ideas what the problem is.
I suspect that maybe something got lost when I downloaded the gaim source

did you just "make" or just go "make install" first?
1. ./configure
2. make
3. make install (as Root)

If your trying to get an aim client... The easiest way is to get aim from their website...
http://www.aim.com/get_aim/linux/latest_linux.adp
Get the rpm file and then run this in terminal..
#cd /
#cd /usr/bin/aim

Do you have a specific reason for compiling from source? The mdk rpms work just fine in 9.1 for me.
