if ur usin apt, a simple :
apt-get install gaim
will work for u. it comes from the repository on freshrpms.net (thats where i pointed my source to). so, u will find it there too if u dont use apt.
but it doesnt seem like its a gaim install problem.
r u behind a firewall?
