gAIM--Advertisement in User Profile

How do I remove the advertisement that shows up in my profile? It says the following: Visit http://gaim.sourceforge.net.

I tried removing all references to this URL in the only file that it shows up in the entire tarball source, gaim.h. The source version tarball I am using is 0.59. I did a recompile and it still shows up in my profile. I ran "make clean" and "make distclean" before the recompile just in case it is using the old files with the URL in it. Then, I execute ./configure and finally "make install". I like gAIM and all, but I just don't want to be a walking billboard for it .

It's a dot file, or rc file...a "readable configuration" file which stores user-specific settings for its associated program. These files generally reside in your home directory, and since they are dotfiles, they are hidden by default. Set your file manager to view hidden files, and it should magically appear. if it does not appear, that probably means that you either have never run the program, or the application loaded up with system-wide settings (probably a file in /etc).
