Unhappy Gaim

Ok, well this is kinda weird. I install gaim from the rpm, I'm using mandrake, and I used the mandrake rpm, I get it running successfully, it runs all is well except for one thing...Everytime I get on a screen name, my buddy list doubles. It makes a duplicate of each and every buddy. I was thinking hrrm, I have about 350 on my blist, this can't be right. I get on my windows computer, log into my aim using my aol client. I connect, and all is well, my blist is in tact. A little bit confused by this... I soon begain to add screen names to my buddy list from my linux-gaim computer. In doing this this, it created errors when I would log in, b/c it would try to add users that I did not request to add. I would say that my buddy list is probably over the limit. Where are these 300+ buddys comming from? Why is my list so screwed up? Is there some kind of a...well trying not to use the windows words but...registry key that the buddy list is stored in? I'm assuming it's some sort of a small file it caches it in or something. Please help.

an added note to this, I get on a different screen name that has almost the exact buddy list, and nothing happens. So something tells me an external list is cached, please tell me how to fix this.

in ~/.gaim/

where ~ (is a symbol meaning the home DIR)

blist.xml is the file you're looking for (probably)
(don't open it with a browser) USE kwrite (or similar text editor) instead..

A good idea to see what is going on with the buddy list, is to use the MSN MESSENGER from windows (to clean up and stuff)
