Angry g-wrap craziness

I'm stumpted. Here's the error I get when I `make` g-wrap-1.3.4:

<unnamed port>: Could not find slib/require.scm in ("/ext_drv/ext_home/sohmc/src/g-wrap-1.3.4/g-wrap/.." "/usr/local/guile-1.6.4/share/guile/site" "/usr/local/guile-1.6.4/share/guile/1.6" "/usr/local/guile-1.6.4/share/guile" ".")

I've found require.scm by doing a `locate require.scm` and copying the entire directory to *each of the directories* listed in what looks like the path.

And I still get this error. (for the curious, I'm trying to install gnucash)

I've checked out the forum that was previously posted on linuxquestions but was not helpful in solving this problem.

Any suggestions would be helpful.
