Fun with CLI

Hi guys, have a dual boot slackware/XP system here and I purposely didn't install the xserver on slackware as I wanted to learn and have fun with the console stuff.

Well it is fun! Looking for any advice on what other cool things I can do in the CLI purely?

So far.

1. I've got wireless working!! (wep though with mac filtering on the router side since WPA turned out to be beyond my current capabilities)
I've got it to load at startup and auto dhcp so when I log in I'm away.

2. Links for www browsing - It works, and works well.

3. Installed Bitchx last night so really going to get into that tonight.

4. Looking to set PINE up soon with my email.

5. Need to get to grips with wget.

Oh and midnight comamander is ACE! I feel like I'm back in pre win 3.1 days but with fresh eyes as linux is all relatively new to me.

Anybody enjoy the CLI as much as this?
Oh and any CLI games people could recommend?

Kind regards.

I would suggest bsdgames and fortunes. I have had lots of fun with the later in really boring moments.

I would substitute Mutt for Pine for email and my ALLTIME favorite newsreader slrn.
Joe is an excellent editor and so is jed. lynx is a great web browser for the cli and there are others with more features just can't think of their names off the top. Do a search for linux text web browsers or cli browsers.

I used Linux CLI for years and years before I weaned myself into the gui. Even now most of the time I have a cli open on the desktop, cause I build most all the apps I use myself rather than use the packages. Yeah after 14 years I still have a love affair with the cli. ;)

Oh, BTW, if you use Mutt or pine and your port 25 is blocked you'll need fetchmail to get the mail from the server.
It used to be you could just setup your own mail system with linux but now they block 25 and you have to use their servers. The turds! :)
