Full Screen Permissions

The flash plugin for Firefox does not work in full screen mode as a regular user. The settings checkbox to enable hardware acceleration appears, but does not accept any input from the mouse or keyboard.

If I login as root and run firefox, everything works. However, if I su to root from a regular user's session, the first paragraph is true.

It seems like a graphics device or xorg permissions problem, but I do not know where to start modifying things.

I have looked everywhere and cannot find an answer to this. Thanks for reading.
