Yip i am a recent convert from you know who....MS
So please handle me with care ...Newbie

Started on monday building my first Linux box, have activated vncserver, configured iptables and so on. But all i can do is to connect to x windows on local network and from the internet via ssh tunneling however when i run vnc on port 5900 from my xp the vnc viewer disppears with no errors, nothing happens however the procces is running in the taskmanager. I cant seems to access full remote desktop even on the lan. please help

can you post some more detail please?

- What command do you use to start the vnc server on your linux box?
- What command do you use to access the vnc server remotely?
- What are the error messages (if any) you receive when trying to access the server?
- Have you tried switching off the firewall to see if that's where the error originates?
