The OP had already confirmed PuTTY did the BiDi and the characters - he then seemed to be looking for something else that wasn't in the original post.

pterm's man page shows multiple options. Have you looked at that by typing "man pterm"? Among the options it shows are those for font, colour and character set.

sure, I've played with them a lot as well as googled for these issues; meantime, any settings (and resources) from the manpage, can be changed with GUI (via putty command); there are no additional options

I knew they could be changed in the GUI - From your earlier post it appeared you wanted to use pterm from command line rather than the GUI.

Anyway good luck in your search - I've run out of ideas.
