Fujifilm Fine Pix S5600 on Ubuntu 12.04
When I tried to download some photos from a Fujifilm Fine Pix S5600 to the USB port on my desktop running on Ubuntu 12.04, the system seemed unable to pick up the camera.

The manual says the camera is only compatible with Windows OS's. It's the fist time that I have run into such a snag with Ubuntu, is there a workaround?

I have the same issue with my Fujifilm FinePix 3200. It has to do with the file system on the camera (I think it's MTP, but I'm not sure and I'm too lazy to check).

Usually I just pull the SD card and pop it into the card reader, where it mounts just fine, but you might try gtkam. It should be in the repos.

pull out the ssd card and plug the card into the computer

plug in the mini-usb
the OS should auto detect it as a mass storage device
navigate to the folders, in the camera, that have the photos ( every model is different ,you will have to search )

My Fuji File 3200 is not detected as a mass storage device, but gtkam can see it when it's plugged in USB and turned on.

I know that there's a SlackBuild for MTPFS, but I never bothered to experiment with it.
