FTP Proxy

Is there an FTP proxy where I can use to copy files? Our organization is using Squid as a non-transparent proxy. Clients doesn't have access to the internet without using the Squid proxy by reconfiguring the browser to use a proxy on 3128. It seems that squid couldn't serve ftp requests to clients. I needed a sort of a gateway for the clients not directly connected through the internet to access ftp sites. Or can squid handle all of this with just a few configurations?
