ftp problem


Hi,

I have a issue with FTP on my linux system. Whenever I try to do ftp to remote ftp server from my system, my system hangs up immediately. Can u suggest what I have to do and whats the wrong?

Are you using a modem to connect to the network?

you might have tried this, but just in case
start ftp server on your box ( proftpd or any other ) and try connecting from same box ( with gftp or any other app ) and findout if it hangs up box

I tried this one. But it couldnt be successful. When I do ftp from remote server to my box, it is going successfully

There could be problem with specific app you are using to connect from your box, try different app ( gftp, kbear ), try firefox ( ftp://username@remoteserver )

I have seen following error message in logs. It may be useful to resolve this issue. Suggessions pls.......................

May 31 11:26:32 localhost vsftpd: warning: can't get client address: Bad file descriptor
