ftp error!
Hey all, when i try to log into my ftp server it gives me an error message saying
530 must perform authentication before identifying user
What does this mean, and how do i fix it?

that means you must give your username and password. are you using the console ftp program? because thats the best one. to use it, type ftp (name of your web server here), hit enter, it will ask for username and pass, youll give, then youll be in the server. once in there, type ls to list files on server, get (filename here) to get a file from server, put (filename here) to put file on server, and delete (filename here) guess what delete does  .

hmmm...i don't really know what passive mode is....i am pretty sure that this problem has to do with kerberos authentication that the ftp server needs which i don't want to set up. Can anyone recomend their favorite ftp servers to me? Thanx guys.
