freshrpms safe on fedora 8?

Hi there
I have an acer aspire one.On it the system is based on fedora 8.The repositories it came with are:
fedora-development.repo
Code:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1168 2008-09-08 16:57 fedora.repo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1186 2008-09-08 16:57 fedora-updates-newkey.repo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1078 2008-09-08 16:57 fedora-updates.repo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1259 2008-09-08 16:57 fedora-updates-testing-newkey.repo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1151 2008-09-08 16:57 fedora-updates-testing.repo
I've added the freshrpms repo.Is it safe to install packages from this repo ?.In particular i want to install mplayer.Do i have to install libdvdcss first?.Thank you in advance or any replies.

I was under the impression that these days the recommended 'extra' repo for Fedora is RPMFusion. Those are supposed to be safe.
Incidentally, you don't want the 'testing' repos activated, they're really for developers.
Check the 'enable' flag in the repo files.

plus not all of the very old and now unsupported fedora 8 rpm's will work on a acer .They are not binary compatible. some will run others will cause to NEVER BOOT IT AGAIN .
the best option is to ONLY install from the acer limpus web site .

the KEY word is it was VERY loosely based on fedora 8

but your VERY best option would to dump limpus and install Ubuntu .
