fresh RH 9.0 install - OpenOffice won't run

I have a new system -

P4 2.4Ghz
Geforce 3 Ti 500
1GB RAM
120GB HD

I installed RedHat 9 - then the newest Nvidia drivers from www.nvidia.com.

I was very pleased with my system - until I tried to run OpenOffice Writer.

[cbolin@localhost cbolin]$ oowriter
Checking for existing user installation ... ... NOT FOUND
Performing first-time installation for user ... /usr/bin/ooffice: line 197: 4873 Segmentation fault /usr/lib/openoffice/program/setup -R:/etc/openoffice/autoresponse.conf
... FAILED

I tried running the other OO apps with the same result. I uninstalled OpenOffice and reinstalled from my verified, *official* boxed product Redhat CDs and the same problem happens.

Frankly, I have no ideas what to do next other than manually install OpenOffice 1.03 - but I don't want to get my RPM db out-of-sync if I can avoid it. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

Question

Have U tried 1.0.2 on Red Hat 9?

Be aware you have to download the dependencies packages: libs and 18i internationalization

I'm working on it
