Any recomendation on free web site statistics software on Linux?

I tried awstats and found its setup is quite tough?

If your running apache 2 series come with a stats program, if your are look in /var/ww/html and see if you see something for stats.

I used the pre-built for Linux for a while, and realized to configure it I have to
compile by myself, I downloaded gd and zlib source as well, now after config.,
and start to make, I got the following error, any idea?

Why build is so difficult?

On running pre-built binary for Linux, after I tried several times,
suddenly the executable does not produce any new statistics any more,
why?

BTW looks like the executable can run without my supplying any inputs
and do generate reasonable results if I put it under right directory, why?

Perhaps you are not getting any hits at your site inbetween runnings...

Is it set up as a cron task?

I ran it manully, I gonna incorporate it my crontab.
Can I run weblizer without stop httpd, since my site is not
a very busy site? So my cron job is just ./weblizer and cp those
generated files to my specific dir for reviewing?

Since I have to stick with pre-built? What is the option for me
tto have weblizer generatie URL files (all my viewer's
related organization URLs corresponding to their IP£© among
other listings (sites listing, references listing and User listing)£¿
