Free software to open exr files and other image format

Hello,
I wanted to use gwenview to read a maximum of image format but it doesn't open exr file.
I get
Code:
Loading ‘image.exr’ failed
Loading meta information failed.
Even though openexr is installed and works.

Any ideas ?

I can't find any way to configure gwenview to use helper applications. You may have to try some other image viewer, such as krita.

On a previous version of openSUSE I was able to open exr files with gwenview. That's why I think it's supported.
