I got the latest deb from the Ubuntu repository as suggested here,
https://github.com/invesalius/invesalius3/issues/161
and the issue was sorted. They had some workaround with packages but that wasn't necessary with the latest deb.

Invesalius is good and user friendly.

EDIT: Persistence with Slicer3D pays off. It is medically oriented, with an unbelievable number of modules. I don't claim to know much, but if you're a medic, this seems like the one, or Invesalius. Works out of the box.
