frame-by-frame editing for dv home movie
Dear All,

I use sidux and I have not been able so far to get Jahshaka installed for my purpose of frame-by-frame editing. I have cinepaint installed as well as lives, and cinelerra. I would love to find a way to take my dv film ,touch up some frames then put it back into the film without losing quality. I have read some info about getting the frames extracted in cinelerra and followed specific instructions but the audio would not be saved. I wish to keep the audio intact.

If anyone knows anyway to edit frame by frame a dv home movie with sound then get it back into the movie without quality loss I would love to know some good methods.

Thanks very much for any ideas.

My approach would be to extract the audio track for the entire sequence, applying all the visual changes, and afterwards overwriting the audio with the complete saved audio track. It is assumed at this point that you don not cut out or enter footage, but only add some visual effects. Otherwise you would need a separate audio editor. Audio and video data are stored in different ways, so the audio part of a frame is not necessarily stored at the same data block as the video information.

Thank you for your suggestion. I think that is a good method to separate audio and video. I probably will do it that way and see if I can do this in cinelerra.

Thanks for the good advice.
