Foxfire doesn't display graphics.
Firefox version:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050922 Fedora/1.0.7-1.1.fc4 Firefox/1.0.7 Recently did the "su -c `yum update`" to Fedora Core 4 and changed a whole bunch of stuff! about 400 megs worth. Now Firefox won't display maps on mapquest.com and the graphics at ebay.com are suppressed when a page is downloaded. Any ideas what has changed? Running under Gnome. Don't see anything in the preferences file that controls the graphics loading the way there is in Thunderbird, etc. Ideas? |

Thanks, Alan. I must have changed the
"for the originating web site only" box to be checked somewhere along the line. Don't remember doing it. Btw- Does this imply that the mapquest site (that I make the request to for the map I want to see) is not the web site from which my browser downloads the page? What is the intent of this protection in FireFox and how does it help me? Thanks again for focusing my attention on the obvious! -Geo. |
I would assume that they run a different server for their database of map images than that for the main site.
The feature might be for people who don't want to add to the effect of hotlinking images (linking to an image on another site without hosting it yourself, thus using their bandwidth), or perhaps for people on slow connections who don't want to have to download unnecessary pictures or ads. |
Thanks, drigz -
another clever application I hadn't thought of. |
