FOSS alternative to F£a$h ₡$4

Is there an alternative to F£a$h ₡$4 that's completely free and open source software? If so, is it in the Ubuntu repos? Please let me know.

Yes, it's called "gnash". Check it out here. If you're running Ubuntu you can see if it's in the repos yourself. You don't really need someone to do that for you, do you?

He's looking for an alternative to creating flash videos, not simply playing.

I'll take your word for it, Timothy. But how do you know this. The only info I saw was the word "flash" written" using funny symbols. Is that really the name of some software?

@OP
You can make videos using cheese. I don't recall if you can save them directly in .swf format but you could certainly convert the format they're saved in using ffmpeg.

The second group is supposed to be CS4. Flash CS4. Used for creating flash content.

As for flv you can use ffmpeg or mencoder to make them.

Don't use Flash. I wish I could get rid of that proprietary piece of crap, but so many sites depend on it! And open-source alternatives are half-broken!

Kenny_Strawn, what exactly are you trying to do? It's likely that you can do it without Flash.

So do I. There's gnash and Lightspark but they aren't full replacements.

As much as I dislike Flash I don't lose sleep over using it. I'm not into the whole FOSS purist thing when it comes to having a functioning computer.

Also, your various use of symbols to spell out Flash are confusing and mildly annoying...

Exactly that. As for "funny symbols": Notice how all those symbols are currency signs? Exactly.

Why do you want to create Flash videos?

Or alternatives to them. Maybe an HTML5 WYSIWYG editor.

If you just want to create a video to embed in a web page, use HTML5 instead.

And just how do I use HTML5 in an FOSS alternative to Dreamweaver (an FOSS WYSIWYG editor)? Did you even read that sentence?

Why do you have to use a WYSIWYG editor?

Because it would be impossible to write and test 1000+ lines of HTML code by hand.
