forward root email

When I do an ls on /var/spool/mail the root user has a file called "root" which seems to have mail in it for the root user. How can I set this mail to forward so that the mail file does not keep growing?

What MTA are you using? If its sendmail which is default, try creating an alias for roots mail to forward to another user, etc.

I have another question.

what about the 2MB of emails that have already been sent to root?
How can I get those either forwarded or cleared?
