Formatted an Ext3 (Freenas) drive with Windows (NTFS)

Hi,

I had a drive that was being used in Freenas and I since formatted it (not quickformat) in Win 7 as NTFS/FAT32.

Nothing has been written to it and I then realise that I needed some pic's off it.

I've tried Knoppix and that didn't give me much joy and have also tried Active Uneraser from windows.

Is there anything somebody can recommend?

Or even tell me that its possible?

Have a look at Photorec - it's a data mining tool. Very good - specially for photos. May even be on Knoppix.
Formatting will have overwritten the filesystem metadata, but with luck (most of) your files should be o.k.

Testdisk may help also.
