I would consider uim, langdrill, gjiten, kanatest, dict and ispell to be "foreign language software". If that's not what you mean, what do you mean? What task is it you want to perform?

I want to learn a foreign language. Currently all the multilanguage software packages the I have come across are generally only written for M$ or MAC. ie transparent language

Okay. Langdrill, kanatest and gjiten helps you learn japanese.

What about other languages ie French, Italian, german etc

jonaskoelker 03-21-2006 03:38 PM

take a look at JLearnIT. Otherwise, I don't know. There are of course freedict dictionaries for those languages, but no tutorial material that I know a lot about.

Which languages do you want to learn? French, Italian and German plus more? Exactly what problem are you trying to solve?

I just to learn some languages, I have taken french and german but have forgotten quite a lot. I tried kvoctrain but the dictionaries tend to be limited

I'm out of ideas, then. Google might be able to help you.
