Foolproof guide to install Xine?

Hi

I know this question is probably anwserd across 5 to10 Threads, but it would really help if i could get a foolproof guide on how to install XINE on my system. I am not afraid to compile the stuff!

1) What do I need to have to get basic DVD-Playback?
2) In which order do I have to "make install" the stuff?
3) Any other things I would have to take care of?

Thank you!

You're correct. There's a lot of information on how to get xine compiled and installed. Start reading

The foolproof guide? Use your package manager, last I heard Debian has a pretty reasonable one.

The problem is, that in the official repositories, there is no xine-lib.
I can find xine-ui but that's it...

Nobody can link me to a How-To/Tutorial?

Thanks
