Fonts not visible to upgraded LibreOffice-5.4.0

Just upgraded LO to version 5.4.0 and most of my fonts are no longer
available to the application. They are all, of course, still in their
subdirectories in /usr/share/fonts/ but LO-5.0.4 isn't seeing them.

I've run 'fc-cache -f -v' with no effect.

Suggestions?

Which fonts have gone? I read that LO has dropped support for Type 1 fonts, and only TrueType and OpenType are now acceptable. If that's what's affecting you, I read this solution:
Quote:

You can switch to the old engine in the menu: Tools > Options > Advanced. Then click Open Expert Configuration, search for TextLayoutEngine, and double-click the result – change it to "old", save and restart LibreOffice.
No guarantees — I stuck to OpenOffice!

David,

Thanks for pointing this out. Only after posting my message did I learn that LO dropped Type1 font support. Yesterday I upgraded fontforge and read the tutorial on scripting; today I'll convert all Type1 and TrueType fonts to OTF.

Much appreciated,

Rich
