Font Aspects Too Tall On Fedora Core 3

Using Acrobat 5, I can read PDFs just fine, but if I try to copy text from one, the whole GUI hangs up! So I decided to make upgrade to Acrobat 7. OOPS. (larger)

So the fonts are just enormous and unreadable. Anybody have a clue as to something I could do to fix this?
