Focusing the terminal emulator window in Kate

From the Kate handbook:
Quote:

The built in Terminal Emulator is a copy of the KDE Konsole terminal application, for your convenience. It is available from the Settings->Show Terminal Emulator menu item or by pressing the F7 key, and will get the focus whenever displayed.
Doesn't work. Pressing F7 brings focus to a command area above the Terminal Emulator. I don't even have a Settings->Show Terminal Emulator menu item. I do have a terminal button which can be mouse clicked to bring up the Terminal Emulator, so the emulator is there and working. I just can't guess how to focus the emulator with the keyboard.

Mepis 6.0
KDE 3.5.3
Kate 2.5.3

The documentation seems to be in error.

Go to settings > configure shortcuts. In my copy of kate (with default settings), F7 is targeted as "switch to command line". There's a separate entry for the terminal window, which appears to be unset by default. Changing that to F7 (or any keycombo, for that matter) will make it do what you want.

The menu entry for it is in Window > Tool Views.
