I think those error messages are from when you booted into gnome because gnome uses metacity window manager. Fluxbox uses fluxbox window manager.

Let us see the contentents of

/home/user/.fluxbox/init

of course change /home/user to the name of your home directory.

Same problem here.I fixed it last time by accident but have no clue what I did.I have sinced used a mirror backup of my entire drice and after upgrade ran into same problem.My errors are similar to yours without the bad stuff;

Quote:
/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp
/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: running: /usr/X11R6/bin/sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xservers" -h "" -l ":0" "h2"
/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
SESSION_MANAGER=....
Driveing me crazy and gave up for now...useing iceWM and I hate it.

sorry to add my problems here but figured because there similar I'd chime in.
I recently saw a newsgroup mailing posted via a google search that explained how to fix,but can not find it and it didnt help me,it may help you,but it has something to do with the new upgrade and the conf file I believe...dunno.

hopeing to get this fixed,I miss FB.

Thanks in advance,
I will be doing as much research on this as I can today....time considering.

ok I narrowed it down.

I added a new user and the new user can login to fluxbox.
So there is some issue with my regular user's config that is borking the fluxbox startup.

For the next guy who borks flux

sudo add newuser

mv ~/.fluxbox ~/.fluxboxBroken
cp -r /home/newuser/.fluxbox ~/.fluxbox
You should now be able to login to fluxbox.
Then add stuff back in to see what borked flux
This happened after an apt-get dist-upgrade so who knows what set it off.
