i was looking for more along the lines of personal opinions- which do you like better, does one do something better, one sucks donkey balls, etc.

Well, I hate to minimize windows with Blackbox, they not really minimize, but ratter they got hidden. I mean, they don't go to the task bar :S. I also don't like to have to install a third part program, as bbkeys, to allow key grabs under Blackbox. Feels quite unfinished product. At least the classic alt-tab to switch windows should be included... Well, my two cents :)

P.S: now wait till someone come with a work around for the problems I mention above. I bet there are work around, but I'm saying, by default :D

What I like better in Blackbox: Blackbox is faster
What I like better in Fluxbox: Everything else

Like the guru said looking on fluxbox page and other blackbox-like pages gives you enough to decide which one to pick. You have screenshots to see what it looks like and descriptions.
But i suggest you try them all and after you will know ...
