fluxbox toolbar transparency prob

hi,
i run fluxbox with a theme set to transparent. i have a recurring problem with the toolbar with transparency set quite high. actually its 2 problems closely linked.

[ one < > [ program area ] < > date time ] <- daig of my toolbar

when i load fluxbox usually the toolbar wont have loaded the transparency across the whole of the toolbar. sometimes the "workspace" area will not show transparent or the "date/time" area.
the exception to this if their is a program in the "program area", this will always show transparent.

i can solve this problem by using the "restart" function in the menu, this makes the transpancey load properly.

the second problem is if their is no program in the "program area" it will always show up with no transparency set eg alpha 255. if i load a program or move a program from workspace 1 to 2, then two will come transparent.

i tried using another theme, but the same problem recurred.
:S

thanks!

That's because fluxbox is crap. Report this bug to the devs and see what their response is I've reported it and I know of two others who have as well, unfortunately they don't care and don't seem to be able to replicate the bug that most of their userbase is experiencing. I guess life is just tough.

I switched to FVWM and chucked together a config that looks exactly like my fluxbox config. I can also recommend blackbox or kahakai (no longer developed but still good).

It's certainly fun to play with and it's about 25,681 times more configurable than fluxbox. However something I forgot to mention, if you want to stick with flux you can just turn off the toolbar completely and replace it with pypanel Looks the same although it wouldn't fit in with your flux theme. I use it in FVWM with nice results.

Here is a screenshot, and here is another. Guess which is fvwm and which is fluxbox

EDIT: Ahh crap, the fvwm one is obvious by the menu Still shows my point though lol
