Fluxbox maximizing hack needed
Is there a hack around this small Fluxbox issue?: For a long time I've run windows-maker apps in the slit. It's been really convenient because once I turned off the "Maximize Over" option for the slit, then I could maximize windows without covering up the apps in the slit.
Recently I got this completely original (wink, wink) idea of docking an x-terminal there instead of wm apps. I found out on-line how to do that by putting xterm into the .fluxbox/apps file, and it works fine.
One problem though: When I maximize my other windows, they maximize over the terminal, which is not what I want. I keep the terminal near the top of the window and don't want it to get covered up. I tried to fix this by changing the layer of the app in the .fluxbox/apps file, but although that can keep the terminal from being covered up, it doesn't help because then when I maximize other windows, those windows go under the terminal!
I assume this is all because the terminal is not actually a wm application, and so is not really running in the slit.
My google searches haven't got me very far. I think an answer to one of the follow questions might solve my problem:
1) Is there a terminal that was designed to be dockable (window-maker style)?
2) Is there a way to run a regular terminal inside the slit so it doesn't get covered up?
3) Is there a way in Fluxbox to limit what parts of the screen windows can maximize to?
