Fluxbox installation

Alright, im running Fedora Core 1 and I got fluxbox installed.. what im having troubles with is to make it start up in fluxbox.

In their documents posted on their website it tells me to edit the file .xsession or .xinitrc in my home directory and the chmod 777 the file.

After doing this I reboot the system and I end up starting up under the gnome.

Anyone know what im doing wrong or something i may be missing ?

Thanks alot.

I suppose you're using GDM as a login manager. If so, choose "custom" in the session selector. This will load your .xinitrc or .xsession file and start up Fluxbox

i cant see any custom option in that window... isnt there a config file that i can edit ?

In GDM you can select the session. If I remember good is under "Session" or similar. Take your time to look all the screen in GDM cause you don't see the options at first glance.
If no "custom" is available to select, then you better do some googling, cause it's aout of my knowledge. I know there's a config file, but can't remember where it is and its name (I'm out of town, connected with stolen WIFI internet from a neighbour with a PowerBook 15").

You could also edit the gdm login files, or your ./xinitrc confg file to show the computer that you want to use fluxbox now, not gnome. You can do this by going into a file editor and editing /home/yourusername/ directory called .xinitrc.

In that file write:
gnome
kde
fluxbox

And highlight the one you dont want to use, so if you want to use gnome highlight kde out
#gnome
#kde
fluxbox

there ya go :P
