Fluxbox e-mail links don't work

Hi All,

I'm using Mandriva 2007.1 with the fluxbox wm from the Mandriva repository.

If I'm on a web page and click on "send link" or a "contact us" e-mail link....my e-mail program does not open...instead .....multiple web browsers start to open and keep opening until I hit "ctrl-alt-backspace".

I've tried firefox and epiphany.....evolution and sylpheed....

Gnome is the default wm and the e-mail links work fine there.

I've tried ./configure enable-gnome under fluxbox but get an error message...(no such file or directory).

The gnome menu shows up fine under fluxbox so I assume it has some of the gnome libs in place ??

Any ideas ???

I'd like to use fluxbox fulltime but this is a major downside !!

Thanks

Rob

The easiest way would be simply telling Firefox what mail application to open if you click on some mailto: URLs. This is utterly WM and desktop environment independent. (Just edit about:config and set
"network.protocol-handler.app.mailto" to whatever your mailclient is.)

Gnome has some configuration tool to set the default mail client and the default browser - don't know its name, check your Gnome configuration menu, it's somewhere between keyboard configuration and all the other config stuff.

So, if you actually have fluxbox and ONLY fluxbox without Gnome started, set your mail client within FF.

If you've got Gnome with fluxbox instead of metacity, check your Gnome config menu.

Thanks for your reply Su-Shee

It seems to be set to... Default...string..../usr/bin/xdg-email.

Does something here need to be changed ??

Found under about:config

As for Gnome with fluxbox instead of metacity....I have no idea what that means.

I get fluxbox by logging into fluxbox at the login screen....also....what is FF ???

Okay I changed the line "/usr/bin/xdg-email" to "evolution" in the about:config file under Firefox and all works fine now!!!

Thanks for your help and sorry for the dumb questions.
