What do you see on your menu when you right click the desktop?

Which version of Fluxbox, and how did you install it?
That sounds like the default menu when it can load no other, so maybe you have permission problems on the /usr/share/fluxbox/menu file, or your ~/.fluxbox/menu file, or maybe ~/.fluxbox/init has a bad path to the menu file.

The menu file is in /home/user/.fluxbox/menu

Just open it up with a text editor and take a look at how it is layed out. Its pretty easy to figure out how to add or take out something.

Did you personally make the .fluxbox/ folder? Which fluxbox version is this?
I suggest you delete .fluxbox and allow flux to regenerate the default files in there.

There should be fluxbox 0.1.14 and 0.9.6-pre1 mdk .rpm files in the official mirrors of the contribution packages for Mandrake 9. Try using a package first and then later source upgrades simply have to overwrite the compiled binaries.
