fluid flow simulation
Hi there,
can someone recommend an easy to use fluid flow simulation tool. I have done some searches on line and on my mint sofware center but haven`t come out with much. I have downloaded elmer but realised is not what I am after. Ideally I would like to be able to build my model by adding graphical components, like adding pipes or pits etc, and setting pressure and or other variables. thanks a lot Jonez |
I have also been trying to install openFoam without success. It does not appear on the software center, so I went to their
web site but am a bit confused with the instructions there. |
Hello Jonezuan,
the problem is to find out which dependecies OpenFOAM has and then to install these dependencies from the repository of your distribution before you install OpenFOAM. It's described here: http://www.openfoam.org/download/ubuntu.php Try it out and post your problems, don't forget to post all the errormessages you get, they will be very helpful. Markus |

I had just written a long reply to you with quotes and terminal results and was about to submit it when my system just froze and wouldn't come back. I was left with no option but to press the power button for 5 secs after unplugging everything and plunging again. Only thing that was working was the mouse movements, but nothing would respond. I had open what... Firefox with two tabs, one terminal, and had just pasted a section of text in the libreOffice writer for editing when it all happened. Since this is probably the 3rd time this has happened to me in the very short time I have been experimenting, I gather my first call for help should be "what is the equivalent to Control+ Alt+ Delete in Linux?" You should first try Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to get out of Xorg.
If the system is completely hung you can use Alt-SysRq REISUB if it is enabled in the kernel (it should be): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/REISUB |
