Flightgear-up and running

Well, I got it going. WOW!! Is it hard to learn. I can fly pretty straight and level but thats about all.
I'm using a mouse. Does a joystick make much differance as far as control? What else should I know? This is my first simulator and I don't have a joystick yet.

I'd say a joystick makes all the difference as most airplanes are designed to be controlled by stick/rudder - The same goes for simulators which normally try to allow the user to experience something very close to reality when utilizing the software - hence I suggest getting hold of a joystick, I think you will find it a pleasant experience
