Coudl anyone tellme how to configure flashplayer 7 . when I try to run the install scxripts it asks for th efolowing information Please enter the installation path of the Mozilla, Netscape,
or Opera browser (i.e., /usr/lib/mozilla): I try netering /usr/lib/mozilla and I get the message that this is not a directory , mozilla is installed in the default directory in my slackware 9.1, I do not know whta thsat directory is.. I would apprectiate help with this problem.

Are you using the default mozilla package from Slackware or not. If you are, the folder name should be /usr/lib/mozilla-1.7.2 if you are using mozilla 1.7.2.

I am using the mozilla 1.4 version an d I am still getting the same error message, I would appreciate help.

I suggest you browse into your /usr/lib directory and check for the exact name of your mozilla directory and use that in place of the one in the example above. If you have already done so and it doesn't work then, I don't really know what the problem could be.

I already tried that , do you thinkk I amy have to be navigating to one of the subdirectories and which one may it have to be do you think?

From Flashplayer website:
To manually install the plug-in for Linux, copy the following files to your browser's plugins folder:

* libflashplayer.so
* flashplayer.xpt

my guess is you need to specify mozilla's plugin folder, not just the mozilla directory, but its been so long since I installed flash I can't remember, so if all else fail do it manualy.

No you don't have to specify the plugin folder. One thing I have noticed is that when you upgrade Mozilla, some distros don't delete the old folders and leave it with a few entries. Flash won't install unless the mozilla folder has a full installation and it automatically places the correct files in the plugins subfolder of the mozilla folder.

I checked the plugins folder of my mozilla distribution libflashplayer.so is highlighted in red, how can I go about configuring flashplayer?

reddazz 09-07-2004 02:54 AM

delete the current libflashplayer.so and flashplayer.xpt. once you have done that, install flash player and I think it should work. the reason why it's highlighted in red is because it is a link pointing to something that doesn't exist on your system.
